Welcome to the
cricket wales
strategy
Criced in Wales has always held a special place in our communities, connecting generations, forging friendships, and offering moments of inspiration, joy, and resilience. Yet as we look ahead, we are not just safeguarding a tradition, we are shaping a future. A future where every child, every woman, every volunteer, every club, and every community sees Criced not just as a game, but as a home.
This strategy, Criced: A Sport for All, is our bold, collective step forward. It is built on the firm belief that Criced can and must become a truly inclusive, sustainable, and thriving sport in every corner of Wales. It reflects the voices of our people, the needs of our communities, and the unwavering values we hold dear: Together, Lead, Care.
This is a once-in-a-generation moment – an opportunity to revolutionise the sport we love so that it serves and inspires generations to come. And we will do it the Welsh way, with integrity, community at the heart, and a fierce commitment to inclusion, wellbeing, and belonging.
We will not do this alone. Our progress depends on collaboration, and we are proud to work alongside valued partners including Glamorgan Cricket, Sport Wales, the England & Wales Cricket Board, Chance to Shine, and Lord’s Taverners. Together, we will shape a future for Criced that reflects the absolute best of Wales, its people, its passion, and its pride.
That means investing in people and culture, nurturing our clubs, elevating women’s and girls’ participation, reimagining facilities, deepening partnerships, and offering new, captivating ways to be involved in Criced, on and off the pitch.
This strategy is not just a document; it is a commitment to act. A shared promise to hold ourselves accountable, measure our progress, and lead with purpose. It is our collective playbook for change.
To everyone in the Cricket Wales family, thank you – for your passion, your perseverance, and your belief in what this sport can be. Together, let’s write the next chapter. One where every person in Wales can see themselves in our game, and know they truly belong.
This is our time, this is our game, Together, we Lead and Care.
This is Criced: A Sport for All
Barry Cawte
Chief Executive Officer, Cricket Wales
As Chair of Cricket Wales, I am immensely proud to present Criced: A Sport for All, a strategy that is both ambitious and grounded in the needs, values, and voices of our communities across Wales.
This strategy is the result of deep listening, honest reflection, and shared aspiration. It acknowledges where we are now, but more importantly, it maps where we want to be, building a game that is open, inclusive, and sustainable for everyone. It is our opportunity to bring lasting transformation to Criced, not just for today, but for generations to come.
This is a collective mission. Our strength lies in collaboration. That’s why we are proud to stand with our partners, Glamorgan Cricket, Sport Wales, the England & Wales Cricket Board, Chance to Shine, and Lord’s Taverners, all of whom share our vision and commitment to making Criced truly a sport for all.
Our strategy is underpinned by three powerful values, Together, Lead, Care. These are not just words. They are the foundations for every decision we take and every relationship we build. Whether it’s supporting clubs to thrive, revolutionising the women’s and girls’ game, or ensuring fit-for-purpose facilities, these values will guide us.
Doing it the Welsh way means putting community first, embracing progress without forgetting our roots, and building a future that reflects the diversity and spirit of modern Wales.
I want to thank everyone who has contributed to this strategy, our staff, volunteers, partners, players, coaches, and officials. This is your plan, and together, we will deliver it.
Criced: A Sport for All is more than a strategy, it’s a statement of belief. Let’s make it a reality.
